Who we are
Agora provides an online research workspace for high school students. Agora is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice, which means we decide why and how it is processed.
What we collect and why
- Account details — name, email address and profile photo from Google sign-in, used to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Profile information — grade level, research type, research goal and interests you enter during onboarding, used to personalise the workspace and to show a short profile card to other students in community channels you have joined. Legal basis: contract performance.
- Workspace content — notes, sources, citations, tasks, contacts, uploaded files, meeting transcripts and team messages, stored so we can provide the service and so Odeon can answer questions about your project. Legal basis: contract performance.
- Community posts — messages you post in community channels, visible to other signed-in students. Legal basis: contract performance.
- AI conversations — the prompts you send Odeon and its replies, kept so you can revisit them and so we can enforce plan message allowances. Legal basis: contract performance and our legitimate interest in operating the service fairly.
- Subscription records — plan, status and renewal dates. Card details are never seen or stored by Agora; they are handled by Paddle. Legal basis: contract performance and legal obligation.
- Technical data — IP address, device and browser information and basic usage logs, used for security, fraud prevention, debugging and improving the product. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
Who we share data with
- Service providers and subprocessors — hosting, database, storage and AI-model providers that operate the service on our instructions.
- Merchant of Record — Paddle, for the sale of Premium plans, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Other students — only the limited profile card and the messages you choose to post in shared channels or workspaces.
- Professional advisers and authorities — legal or accounting advisers, and authorities where we are required by law to disclose information.
We do not sell your personal data.
AI processing
When you ask Odeon a question, relevant content from your workspace is sent to our AI model provider to generate a response. Your workspace content is not used to train third-party foundation models.
Retention
We keep your account and workspace content for as long as your account is active. If you delete a workspace, its content is removed from the live service. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data once it is no longer needed, apart from records we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority, and we will respond to requests within one month. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the in-app support option.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, authenticated access and database-level access rules so students can only reach the workspaces and channels they belong to. No online service can be perfectly secure, but we work to keep the risk low.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as whether you have completed the product tour. These are required for the service to work. Our payment provider may set cookies during checkout. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of Agora will stop working if you do.
Changes and contact
We will update this notice as the service evolves and will flag material changes in the app. For any privacy question or request, contact Agora through the in-app support option.
